IB Visual Arts HL and SL
This course is an introduction and study to various forms of arts and artists.
Students will explore a variety of media through gallery and museum visits and
personal research. Elements of design and composition are emphasized and refined
through class discussion and projects. Students will be encouraged to explore
different cultures and artists as well as their own cultural influences. Their personal
research, ideas and artistic growth will be documented in their Investigative Work
Book through writing and sketching. Throughout the year, the students will become
familiar with the work of local artists and galleries and art resources available in the

IB FilmFilm is both a powerful communication medium and an art form. The DP film course aims to develop students' skills so they become adept both in interpreting others' work and in creating their own films.
Through the study and analysis of film texts and exercises in film making, the DP film course explores film theory and history. The course will develop students' critical abilities, enabling them to appreciate the multiplicity of cultural and historical perspectives in film.
Students are encouraged to develop the professional and technical skills (including organizational skills) needed to express themselves creatively in film. The IB film course emphasizes the importance of working individually and as a member of a group.
At the core of IB film is a concern with clarity of understanding, critical thinking, reflective analysis, effective involvement and imaginative synthesis achieved through practical engagement in the art and craft of film.Please click for more information.
IB Music
IB Music is a two year program. Students will become thoughtful listeners and creators of music. Through exploration of both Western music and music of other cultures and continents, students will learn to recognize both the differences and the links between a variety of musical styles. Study of form and musical terms and devices teach the student think clearly and write intelligently about music. Please click for more information.
Art 9
This course is an introduction to the different forms of art and artists. Students will

mixed media. Elements of design and composition are emphasized and refined
through class discussions and projects. Class critiques and discussions will also be encouraged as they will be part of the students’ grade.
Art 10
This course is a continuation of work begun in PreIB Art 9. Students will
explore a variety of media including block prints, clay, charcoal, photography and
mixed media. Elements of design and composition are emphasized and refined
through class discussions and projects. Class critiques and discussions will also be encouraged as they will be part of the students’ grade.
Music 9
In Music 9, students will learn the nuts and bolts of music theory, develop musical listening skills and explore what it means to be a musician. Students will work on sight-singing, basic piano skills and develop a vocabulary to discuss and describe music.
Music 10
In Music 10, students will review note reading, rhythms and key signatures as a prelude to exploring the components of melody and harmony. Students will work on sight-singing, and melodic and rhythmic dictation skills, enabling them to create their own musical compositions.
