ESL LEVEL 2   GRAMMAR

DESCRIPTION:

This course helps students to bridge the gap between comprehending grammatical structures and actually using them through guided practice and communication practice.  It will cover the review of the past tense and continue through to the present perfect.  Pronouns, modals, adjectives and adverbs, infinitive/ gerunds will be reviewed/covered through grammar notes in addition to the use of the Steven Molinsky series Side by Side, books 2 and 3.

 

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED MATERIALS:

§ placement test

§ Side by Side Grammar Series 2 & 3, Third Edition, Prentice Hall Regents

§ Dictionary - native language/ English

§ notebook and folder

 

 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

§ to recognize and use the present tenses, past, future, and present perfect

      tenses appropriately in writing and speaking

§ to begin to bridge the gap between comprehending grammatical structures and  

      actually using them  

   

  

 

COURSE POLICIES AND INSTRUCTORÕS EXPECTATIONS:

  • homework is to be done and checked daily
  • absence from class is not an acceptable reason for not completing an assignment

      or taking a test.  (It is the student’s responsibility to ask the teacher about

      missed assignments or tests.)

  • grades are based on effort put into homework and classwork, class

      participation , tests and quizzes .

  • only English is to be spoken during class time.
