GEOMETRY/TRIG SYLLABUS
INSTRUCTOR : MR ROMAIN 2012-2013
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Geometry is the mathematics of measurement and the study of the arrangement of points in figures in space. This class will use basic algebraic concepts to solve problems involving lines, segments, angles, polygons and circles. The solving of geometric proofs through the use of theorems, postulates, corollaries, and definitions enables the student to develop/strengthen skill in deductive reasoning. In addition to the skills and concepts covered in the college preparation geometry course. The honors geometry course presents more challenging problems and rigorous proofs are stressed.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
1. TEXT: McDougal Little, Geometry
2. A full-size binder for the purpose of organizing ALL class notes, class handouts, homework assignments, quizzes, and tests. Notebook checks will be random, and there will be no excuse for not having it upon request!

Trigonometry
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Trigonometry is an extension of Algebra with the inclusion of a unique set of definitions. Trigonometry is the further advancement in the sequential progression of mathematical “tools” equipping the student with the means necessary to cope with more complex and challenging problems. Trigonometry deals not solely with triangles but focuses on functions of angles, radian measure, displacement, surveying, construction and forces.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED MATERIALS:
The successful student will have a working knowledge of both algebra and geometry.
